Love from A to Z is definitely one of the softest and purest books I’ve ever come across. During the three hours that I read it, I wasn’t able to put it down! No words can express the gratitude I feel to be a part of this blog tour and being able to promote this novel on my blog is an honor.
The book starts out through the eyes of Zayneb. She gets into trouble with her Islamophobic teacher and ends up getting unjustly suspended. Her mom invites her to stay with her aunt in Doha for spring break, and on her way there, she meets a guy on the plane named Adam. Now, from Adam’s point of view, Zayneb’s the most striking woman he’s ever seen. Her bright blue hijab catches his attention almost immediately, and it’s only aggravated when he sees that she has the same Marvels & Oddities journal that he does. In the plane, they trade bemused glances, but they don’t get each other’s names before they disembark. But, as fate has it, they meet again in Doha.
There are so many things to love about this book. Ali gives readers such unique prose since the story is told in a manner where the characters writing their interactions through a journal. It’s so easy to fall in love with Zayneb’s passion and Adam’s softness as characters. Love from A to Z doesn’t shy away from the day-to-day discrimination faced by Muslims, but it also provides readers with so many warm feelings through Zayneb and Adam’s interactions. Although I can’t speak on behalf of the representation of Muslims and multiple sclerosis victims in this book, I’ve only heard positive feedback from #ownvoices reviewers.
I absolutely adored this novel. Adam and Zayneb were characters I immediately grew attached to, and the two just complemented each other so well. This is the first time I’ve read a book wherein two Muslim characters were the protagonists, and it was done so in such a non-stereotypical way that made me appreciate the little things in my life.
I also really, really want a Marvels & Oddities journal. Like really badly.
This novel released a week ago and I included the buy links below. I definitely recommend grabbing a copy. It’s so easy to lose yourself in this book, and if you’re looking for a light-hearted read with soft romance that still delivers a strong message, this is for you.
