Not gonna lie, Wicked Saints was one of my most anticipated reads this year, and receiving it from the publisher made me feel like I was on top of the world. I haven’t made it a secret that I’m still fuming over the ending of the Grisha trilogy, and this book comes in where the badass female character is promised to end up with morally grey sort-of-villain? I was sold. I knew it would blow my mind…. but once I started, I just wanted it to end.
Well, that’s another month done. Happy March, everyone! This time around, I’m starting with a list of new releases that I’m really looking forward to reading. February was great with these as well, with books like A Curse So Dark…
I’ll admit, I had my initial doubts about this just because it looked so cliche, but the synopsis completely won me over. I was able to finish Flipping the Script in one go! That’s definitely not a common feat for a book I’m reading, but there’s just something about Danice’s writing that was so addicting. It’s also a Filipino novel written and set in Manila, and seeing so many references to my daily life were so refreshing!
We Hunt the Flame is an incredible book. I’m an avid lover of fantasy novels, but very rarely do I find one with such vivid descriptions of world-building and unbelievable attention to detail! Everything in the novel is well-thought out—the architecture, characters, language, food, traditions, romance, angst, fluff….everything. It’s pretty hard to wrap my head around the fact that this is a debut novel because it was just so fucking good.
Another week, another Tuesday! I’m going to be completely swamped this time next week (THREE MIDTERMS NEXT TUESDAY? GOODBYE!) so I moooost likely won’t be able to post then, BUT I’m going to take the opportunity to post my #TopTenTuesday now. This is hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl, and if you’re interested, you can find a list of the future (and past) prompts by clicking on her blog name.
